Ms. Queen Norhanna M. Choy, 3rd year Bachelor of Physical Education student from Institute of Sports, Physical Education and Recreation at USM is a recipient of ๐˜ฟ๐™ง. ๐™๐™๐™ค๐™ข๐™–๐™จ ๐™‡. ๐™ˆ๐™–๐™˜๐™†๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฏ๐™ž๐™š ๐™„๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ง๐™ฃ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™–๐™ก ๐™Ž๐™ฉ๐™ช๐™™๐™š๐™ฃ๐™ฉ ๐™Ž๐™˜๐™๐™ค๐™ก๐™–๐™ง๐™จ๐™๐™ž๐™ฅ. This was awarded during the closing ceremony of the virtual International Conference on October 8-10, 2021 conducted by the ๐™„๐™ฃ๐™ฉ๐™š๐™ง๐™ฃ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ๐™–๐™ก ๐™Š๐™ง๐™œ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™ž๐™ฏ๐™–๐™ฉ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ฃ ๐™›๐™ค๐™ง ๐™ƒ๐™š๐™–๐™ก๐™ฉ๐™, ๐™Ž๐™ฅ๐™ค๐™ง๐™ฉ๐™จ ๐™–๐™ฃ๐™™ ๐™†๐™ž๐™ฃ๐™š๐™จ๐™ž๐™ค๐™ก๐™ค๐™œ๐™ฎ (๐™„๐™Š๐™ƒ๐™Ž๐™†) ๐™๐™š๐™–๐™™๐™š๐™™ ๐™—๐™ฎ ๐˜ฟ๐™ง. ๐™ƒ๐™ค๐™จ๐™ช๐™ฃ๐™œ ๐™Ž๐™ค (๐˜พ๐™€๐™Š), a full professor of the Department of Kinesiology at California State University, San Bernardino.

A total of 83 undergraduate students across the globe applied in the scholarship program; however, only twelve (12) students qualified of which five (5) were from the Philippines to include two (2) from University of Santo Tomas, one (1) from Davao Oriental State University, one (1) from Cavite State University, and one (1) from University of Southern Mindanao.

To qualify, applicants must have membership in the International Organization for Health, Sports and Kinesiology and must have an outstanding academic achievement. A strong letter of recommendation should also be submitted by the unit where the students belong. Applicants are required to submit a current resume with a maximum of 2 pages.

Recipients will receive a financial support ranging from 200-700 US dollars for their schooling and research studies. They will not go out of the country instead they are expected to contribute on the development of Health, Sports and Kinesiology of their country/community. Moreover, no return service to IOHSK is required.

Ms. Choyโ€™s acceptance is just the start of a productive collaboration. ISPEAR is looking forward for more opportunities not only for its students but also for its faculty members.

Indeed, bringing the name of USM in the International organization is one great achievement for the USM ISPEAR family. Dr. Marlene Orfrecio, Chairperson of the Department of Physical Education, ISPEAR, USM is a member of IOHSK and the thesis adviser of Ms. Choy.
