To emphasize the importance of innovation and skills development in engineering education, the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) held its Electronics Engineering (ECE) Day 2025 on September 12 at the Commercial Building, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.

USM President Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel delivered the keynote address. Speaking as a former engineering student, he reflected on how electronics shaped his academic journey and continues to influence modern life.

“If you don’t innovate, you risk being left behind,” he said. “Without commercialization, your invention is nothing. Protect your ideas, but also find ways to use them in practical and productive ways,” the President added.

President Pimentel encouraged students to carry forward a culture of innovation, reminding them that Electronics Engineering should not remain confined to laboratories or classrooms but should produce solutions that meet real-world needs.

Among the attendees were students and faculty members from Sultan Kudarat State University (SKSU) , Notre Dame of Kidapawan College (NDKC), USM- University Laboratory School,  and Mindanao State University- General Santos City (MSU-GSC).

The celebration also featured contests such as Tetris, Speed Typing, and Math Challenges. The event was sponsored by King Ken B Holdings Inc., K On Food Store, and Excel Review Center, who also introduced their services to the participants.
