Five students from the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) joined the Virtual CommTECH Nusantara 2024: Wonderful Folk Tales of Indonesia and earned awards from 24 June to 5 July 2024 via Zoom.

With over two hundred (200) participants, Reynan Zamora and Tristan Jay Imbang, both second-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEED) students, were awarded Best Participants. Meanwhile, Danille Jade Azucena, a Bachelor of Arts in English Language (BAEL) student, won Best Poster. Lastly, USM received one of the two Best Videos awards. Also, Joanna May  and Ailesh Bea Kate Bariga from BAEL joined the international event. 

CommTECH Nusantara is a short program that aims to introduce various Indonesian cultures to participants worldwide. The program also focuses on arts and cultural activities such as traditional music and dance introduction, exploring cultural activities in each region, etc. 

Moreover, at the end of the program, participants presented their creative ideas in a Virtual Project Exhibition and explored amazing folk tales in Indonesia. 

USM, with a special mention during the awarding, is among the thirty-four (34) universities that attended the international activity from all over the globe.
