RESO Administers Thesis Writing Orientation to Junior and Senior Students of KCC

Through the stewardship of Dr. Ramil B. Purrugganan, Research Extension Services Office (RESO) director, on February 14, 2023, RESO spearheads the Thesis Writing Seminar at the University of Southern Mindanao-Kidapawan City Campus’ (USM-KCC) covered court.

“The Research Extension Services Office is willing to help you to be a graduate in this institution,” said RESO Director, Dr. Ramil B. Purrugganan in his welcome address.

He also emphasized the importance of writing an accurate and systematic thesis paper for it is vital and a piece of additional knowledge if the students are able to make their own paper or their own book.

Further, Ma’am Carmee Lyn B. Paylangco discussed the Thesis Writing Process of the university including the APA 7th Edition. The parts of a thesis were also discussed by research coordinators. Ma’am Ma. Karysa F. Garcia, a Research Coordinator from the College of Education Arts and Sciences (CEAS) shared her insights about Social Research; Sir Freddie Rick Jan G. Naparan, a Research Coordinator from the College of Technology (COT) enlightened the students with his keen knowledge about Project Thesis; Ma’am Shiela Mae A. Hortillosa, a Research Coordinator from the College of Technology (COT) also took part in the event by discussing the significance and the parts of an Experimental Study.

The Thesis Writing Seminar was attended by Junior and Senior students who are and who will be undergoing their Thesis Writing for this semester. The seminar was conducted to help and guide students on how to effectively, and properly write and polish a great research paper.

Students were all ears to the lecturers as they tackle the different key points that researchers must take note of. In an interview with the Techno-Builders, students shared their insights about the said seminar.

“The seminar is very informative as a third-year student in this institution. As a BSE3 Major in English, we really need the information upon making the research, especially the parts and what to expect in our 4th year and our 3rd year that we must have a thesis adviser and we need mentorship po talaga, ” Howard Decasa of BSE-3A said.

“The seminar goes very well despite the weather. So, ako lang maingon ah mapasalamaton, very thankful sa faculty, sa staff, sa mga coordinator sa research nga sa tanan-tanan nga questions nga gina cater nila sa reso na-answer najud sya karon. Although, naa may kulang katong ethics and the formatting but then the whole content, the process of the research of conducting the research kung unsa pay kailangan, kung unsa pa sya buhaton nga organized is mas naklaro sya. Karon, kami kay ongoing man among research for the final defense, may mga points ko nga nakuha nga mas naklaro, mas na direct ko sa research paano sya maging strong, maging helpful sa community,” Ivy Joy Barnasas of BSME 4 said.

Unfortunately, the seminar was cut short due to the immense rain caused by today’s bad weather. Overall, the initiative was indeed helpful and significant as it equipped the students with vital knowledge on how they are able to craft an applaudable and competent research paper.
