Today, April 19, we celebrate the National Banana Day, a yearly event that is aimed at celebrating bananas in every conceivable sense of the word because the banana is certainly a fruit worth celebrating!
Did you know that the scientific name for banana is musa sapientum, which means โfruit of the wise men”? A banana plant is actually an herb, the largest herb in the world, and in the same family as the palm tree.
This world-renowned fruit is also useful and beneficial in so many levels. Bananas are most known for their potassium content but also contain B vitamins, vitamin C, magnesium, and fiber. These and more are the reasons why we need bananas each day.
Happy Banana Day!
