This landmark celebration was first drafted in 2014 by the London School of Economics during a press attended by professional fact-checkers and journalists. The conversation on fact-checking resurfaced as misinformation and disinformation heightened two years later during the US elections.
Consumption of the right information must stand in this era where fake news has already exploded. In an attempt to mitigate the spread of fake news, various consortiums and independent fact-checking bodies emerged across the globe.
Indeed, April 2 is a perfect day to celebrate the fact-checking day to counter April 1 Fool’s Day.
