Did you know that in 2022, there were more than 246,000 street children in the country? This was according to the Council for the Welfare of Children.
The 2017-2022 National Strategic Plan on Child Participation in the Philippines had been developed to strengthen the promotion of child participation in the family, community, school, media, and other institutions. The Magna Carta of Children, a comprehensive childrenβs human rights law, was envisioned to be enacted in 2025, and would usher in the creation of the Philippine Commission on Children and the Child Ombudsman.
Let’s keep the conversations going and call for a Philippines with zero street children. Let’s envision Philippines with no children deprived of access to education, justice, or other social services.
