This renowned phrase of the late General Douglas MacArthur still lives until today. Filipinos have never forgotten this line of his, even though decades have already passed. It became a mantra for him until this promise was fulfilled when he returned to the Philippines and landed on Leyte.
He dodged bullets, had threats for a meal, and led troops for his lifetime, yet died of a natural cause on April 5, 1964. As we relive his memory as a military adviser to the Philippines until Filipinos became independent for war, we shall return to the greatness of his command.
