‘Agung’ Awards Announced, to Honor Student Organizations With Consistent Online Presence

In celebration of its 68 years of being “vanguards of students’ rights”, The Mindanao Tech is taking its role further by launching Agung 2022: Online Communication and Journalism Excellence Awards, to honor the student organizations in USM with consistent online presence and excellent digital contents on Facebook in the past year.

“Mintech has always played the role of the chronicler in USM’s history, but with the advent of technology, student organizations have also stepped up in helping their members and fellow students be informed. It’s about time we honor them,” said Mintech adviser Prof. Lloyd Anton Von Colita.

Agung Awards are divided into three main categories: 1) Content, 2) Insight and Innovation, and 3) Best of the Best. With five awards under each category, Agung will be awarding 15 trophies to deserving student organizations that demonstrated excellent communication and journalism strategies.

Under Content, Agung will recognize excellent Branded Content, Informative Content, Film and Video, Community Engagement, and Creative Idea. Meanwhile, awards under Insight and Innovation are the Best Use of Insight, Best Social Strategy, Total Communications Campaign, Multichannels Communication, and Public Affairs. Lastly, awards under the Best of the Best are Sustainable Content of the Year, Innovative Society of the Year, Event of the Year, Campaign of the Year, and Comms Team of the Year.

“Effective communication contributes to organizational success aside from it builds students’ morale, satisfaction, and engagement,” shared Mintech Editor in Chief Juan Justin Gonzales.

The judging is currently ongoing just in time for the red-carpet awarding that will take place after the Screening and Awarding of 10th Lantaw Short Film Festival on Friday, January 27, 2023 at the USM Auditorium.
