Los Baňos, Laguna – USM Development Communication Department and DXVL celebrated their first win at the Gandingan 2019, the 13th UPLB Isko’t Iska’s Multimedia Awards held on March 16, 2019 at DL Umali Hall, UP Los Baňos, Laguna.

Gandingan Awards is organized by the University of the Philippines Commuity Broadcasters’ Society (UP ComBroadSoc). For 13 years, the Gandingan continues to recognize outstanding media practitioners and stations who have promoted development-oriented issues in their respective programs. With the theme: “Midya at Bayan: Malaya, Mulat, at Matapang”, Gandingan’s nominees were carefully screened by a panel composed of professors and students from different organizations and colleges in UP.

This year’s awards night was attended by local and national media such as ABS-CBN, GMA, PTV, and DXVL among others.

USM DevCom and DXVL won the Most Development-Oriented Radio Drama for Barangay MaKOOLit’s Episode: “Ang Corrupt na Kapitan”. The 30-minuter development radio program was written and produced by third year BS Development Communication students last year under the two major subjects: Broadcast Speech and Performance Production Techniques under Mr. Allan Dalo who is also the manager of DXVL.

Maraming salamat sa pagkilalang ito. Inspirasyon po para po sa amin sa akademya na turuan pa at ihubog ang ating mga kabataan para mas lalo silang maging mulat, malaya, at matapang,” Mr. Dalo said in his acceptance speech. Together with him were Delmyr Peroy and Marcelo Credo, two of the 4th Year BS Development Communication students who were part of the team that conceptualized, produced, and packaged the radio drama.
