KABACAN, COTABATO— The College of Arts and Social Sciences- Local Student Government (CASS-LSG) spearheaded the donation of reading and activity materials to USM Annex Elementary School through the Project Literacy for Books and Reading Opportunities (LIBRO) on November 14, 2025.
The one-day outreach activity aimed to provide reading resources to elementary students and to spark their motivation toward reading and learning and was participated in by the AB English Society (ABES), Development Communication Society (DCS), and the University Volunteer’s Club (UVC), who extended their efforts to support the project’s activities.
As part of the project, the student officers and volunteers conducted a storytelling session with an enactment activity. This ensured that the participants, especially young learners, not only listened to the stories but also actively engaged with the narrative, fostering improved comprehension, retention, creativity, and public speaking skills through hands-on learning.
The outreach activity highlights the commitment of USM’s student body and administration to community development and basic education. By successfully implementing Project LIBRO, CASS-LSG and its partners not only provided much-needed reading materials but also demonstrated the power of collaborative service-learning.
