Cotabato provincial gov’t offers assistance to stranded students, USM Hospital

May 7, 2020Amid the ongoing relief assistance to stranded USM students due to COVID-19 pandemic, University of Southern Mindanao (USM) started the distribution of cash incentives to USM scholars, student leaders, journalists, athletes, and performers.
A total of 2,212 College Scholars (CS) and University Scholars (US) can receive their stipend amounting to Php1,500 and Php3,000, respectively.
Aside from the academic scholars, USM student leaders, performing arts groups, journalists, and athletes are also recipients of monetary incentives.
To determine the recipients, the Office of Student Affairs (OSA) evaluated the grades and performance of the qualified students from the 2nd semester of SY 2018-2019 and 1st semester of SY 2019-2020.
The release of cash allowance has started on March 27, 2020. The students need to present their student ID and quarantine pass to claim the stipend.
Other private and government institutions, namely: Tulong Dunong by Rep. Jose I. Tejada, Trade Union Congress of the Philippines, Commission on Higher Education, JA Farms Asia, and other major stakeholders and partners have sponsored the scholarships and allowance of more deserving USM students from low-income earner families.
Currently, OSA is preparing more cash incentives to further aid the students during this crisis.
