
USM PALMA Ranks Second in PAFTE 2025 Congress Quiz Bee Competition

To ensure the commitment to excellence and continuous improvement in delivering educational services of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), the Regional Quality Assessment Team (RQAT) of Region XII carefully evaluated the Bachelor of Science in Midwifery and Bachelor of Science in Pharmacy programs on February 19, 2025, at the Skyroom, Administration Building, USM, Kabacan Cotabato.
In her message, Dr. Leorence Tandog, the Department of Instruction (DI) Director, said that she looks forward that the assessment will provide commendation and recommendations to guide USM in strengthening its programs. “We remain steadfast in our commitment to high quality instruction and services to our students and stakeholders.” She emphasized.
Meanwhile, Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel, the USM President, also graced the event.
“Today, it’s a pleasure for us to undergo this evaluation… We need outsiders to assess our effectiveness, if our course and [program] offering is excellent… Tell us our strengths and weaknesses, guide us and give us feedback. Tell us where we need to improve and what we need to maintain.” He underscored.
The evaluation team was composed of Annabelle R. Dafielmoto, Education Supervisor II from Commission on Higher Education Regional Office (CHEDRO) XII, Dr. Zohrahayda N. Panawidan, OIC- Chief of the Technical Division, Dr. Eloisa P. Española of Mapúa Malayan Colleges Mindanao, Davao City and Dr. Jessie T. Oraño of St. Alexius College.
The morning session involved an ocular inspection of the program facilities and laboratories. In the afternoon, Dr. Pimentel reaffirmed the University’s commitment to meet all requirements set by CHED. Further, Dr. Thaddeus Averilla, the Dean of the College of Health Sciences (CHS), expressed his gratitude to the evaluation team, the assistance of the quality assurance staff of USM, and the faculty members and students of the two programs.
It is worth noting that all undergraduate programs at USM Main Campus are COPC-compliant, as overseen by the University Quality Assurance Office (UQAO), headed by Dr. Lawrence Anthony U. Dollente.
