The Smart Cacao Budwood and Greenhouse facilities, a part of the "Smart Cacao Budwood Nursery and Greenhouse for Production of High-Quality Planting Materials" project, under the leadership of Dr. Edward A. Barlaan, were officially launched on September 12, 2024, at the University of Southern Mindanao Agricultural Research and Development Center (USMARDC).

The University of Southern Mindanao’s Extension Services Office (USM-ESO) participated in the Lakbay Palay Wet Season 2024 at DA-PhilRice, Bual Norte, Midsayap, Cotabato, on September 5-6, 2024.
