D riven by its objectives and mission as vanguards of students’ rights, The Mindanao Tech, also known as Mintech, is the official student-led school publication of the University of Southern that since its inception in 1955, it has become a window of freedom of speech, a channel of factual information, and continuously serves as the chronicler of every student and faculty into their day-to-day activities in the University.
Currently, through its magazine, folio, and social media platforms, it remains responsive to the needs of the time and adaptive to the dynamic landscape of campus journalism and media. It remains active in achieving its pursuit of providing quality content and extension programs that open discussion and understanding of important academic and social issues, and progressively make changes to the society by telling the truth.
Committed to excellence, it strives to provide responsive and engaged journalism through both traditional and new media. Its vision includes chronicling the University’s history, fostering collaboration and collective action, and enhancing the collegiate experience through education, training, arts, and communication. Our Objectives
- Uphold and exercise the ethics of journalism;
- Defend students’ rights and welfare;
- Promote social consciousness among the students;
- Work for the branding, professionalization, and independence of The Mindanao Tech;
- Extend services and assistance to colleges and/or other existing campus organizations; and
- Promote understanding and cooperation, and work closely with organizations and individuals of similar objectives.
