Prof. Colita wins Best Research Paper

November 10, 2023The Mindanao Tech, the official student publication of the University of Southern Mindanao, bagged twenty-five awards during the 14th National Media Conference organized by the School Press Advisers Movement on August 10, 2023, at Incat Royce Convention Center, Grand Astoria Hotel, Zamboanga City.
Associate Professor Lloyd Anton Von M. Colita, the MT adviser, received a Special Citation, Silver Medallion of Excellence for Journalism. “I share this honor with all my current and former staffers of Mintech and all our readers who have been touched, moved, inspired, and even angered by our contents. It was a bumpy road of hits and misses but with only one goal in mind, to uplift the status of campus journalism one story at a time.” Prof. Colita in his Facebook post.

In an interview, Editor-in-Chief Gorieza highlighted the significance of SPAM’s recognition, characterizing it as a testament to Mindanao Tech’s commitment to surpassing journalistic standards. He emphasized that the national award reflects MinTech’s consistency in achieving journalistic excellence over the past years.
EIC Gorieza also underscored the contribution of the University of Southern Mindanao under the leadership of University President Francisco Gil N. Garcia, Ph., in standardizing the publication.
MinTech’s previous record was a total of 21 awards during the 2018 edition of the SPAM Conference at the Regent Hotel, Naga City. Since 2015, the publication received 147 awards from various organizations, publications, and agencies.
