April 27, 2023The Research Colloquium Series sets its second batch of lectures on April 28, 2023 at 8:00 am via hybrid mode. Participants may attend on-site at the Skyroom, through a Zoom meeting, or livestream via the USM RDE Facebook page.
This batch will have four presenters namely: Dr. Krizler C. Tanalgo, Dr. Lothy F. Casim, Dr. Florence Roy P. Salvaña, and Dr. Meriam M. Rubio from the College of Science and Mathematics.
Dr. Casim earned her Doctor of Philosophy in Molecular Biology & Biotechnology with a cognate in Zoology (Parasitology) at University of the Philippines Los Baños. She will lecture on Prevalence and Molecular Characterization of Gastrointestinal Parasites in Native Pigs and their Implications to Zoonosis.
Dr. Rubio, who finished her Doctor of Philosophy in Biology Major in Environmental Biology at Mindanao State University – Iligan Institute of Technology, will be sharing her study on Taxonomic Accounts and Species Diversity of Freshwater Shrimps of the Genus Macrobrachium Spence Bate (Decapoda: Palaemonidae) with Notes on the Socioeconomic Aspects of Shrimp Fishing in Liguasan Marsh, Mindanao, Philippines.
Dr. Salvaña finished his Doctor of Philosophy in Botany (Economic Botany) at University of the Philippines Los Baños. He will share his study on Toxic Effects of Gmelina arborea and Urena lobata to goats.
Dr. Tanalgo finished his Doctor of Philosophy in Ecology at the Centre for Integrative Conservation at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, P.R. China. He will be lecturing on Understanding Conservation Priorities for Bat Biodiversity across Scales and Dimensions in a Changing World.
