NIA, DLS IA, DA-M’LANG, and USM SIGN MOA FOR IA MODEL FARM

A ceremonial signing of a Memorandum of Agreement was held between the University of Southern Mindanao and the National Irrigation Administration, DLS Irrigators Association, Inc., M’lang Municipal Agriculture Office (DA-M’lang), at the University Southern Mindanao, Kabacan, Cotabato on April 13, 2023.

Present during the event were: Dr. Francisco Gil N. Garcia, USM President, Dr. Ma. Teodora N. Cabasan –  Vice President for Research, Development and Extension, Atty. Mario Bello Jr, university legal consultant, Engr. Milbrend Anne B. Alburo, Head of System, Engr. Irish Joy R. Pabustan, Assistant Head of System, Ms. Lady Jean H. Rafael, and Mr. Art Jade Baldelovar.

The parties forged a partnership to undertake the construction, operation, and maintenance of the Irrigation Association Model Farm in Langkong, M’lang, Cotabato. Specifically, USM will provide extension services to IA members on crop production and on greenhouse construction. Further, the model farm can be identified as one of the techno demonstration sites of USM where farmers can learn and practice. In this way, the university can contribute to increasing the farmers’ capacities, which is one of the ultimate goals of extension.
