March 10, 2022The members of the National Organic Agriculture Board paid a visit to the main campus of the University of Southern Mindanao on March 1, 2022. Lea C. Deniquito, Alexandra D. Suga, Dyesel G. Cezar, and Bernadette San Juan met with Dr. Francisco Gil N. Garcia, president of the University of the Philippines, as well as members of the university administrative council, including Dr. Eimer M. Estillo, Vice President for Finance, Dr. Geoffray R. Atok, Vice President for Academic Affairs, Dr. Samsudin S. Panday, vice president for Resource Generation and Services. Dr. Adeflor G. Garcia and Dr. Purificacion O. Cahatian, members of the Organic Agriculture Society of the Philippines, were also present to facilitate the discussion between the members of the NOAB and the members of the university’s administrative council.
One of the agenda in the meeting is the conduct of the 2022 National Organic Agriculture Scientific Conference which will be hosted by the University of Southern Mindanao. It could be noted that the university previously hosted the same conference in 2017. One of the NOAB Members presented the program of activities for the conference to be conducted. It will be a four-day conference, from November 8 to 11, 2011, that will include presentations of scientific studies related to organic agriculture, exhibit on crops, livestock, poultry, and fertilizers, as well as a tour to nearby organic farms. Delegates from all across the Philippines will attend this event. Furthermore, the event will be attended by a number of distinguished professionals as well as some well-known representatives from the Department of Agriculture.
The National Organic Agriculture Scientific Conference is an annual event organized by a number of state universities and colleges around the country. It is attended by members of the Philippine National Organic Agriculture Society. This event intends to bring together advocates, practitioners, and enthusiasts from both the academic and non-academic communities in the country to form a society dedicated to promoting organic agriculture. Furthermore, the NOASP is part of the Philippine Department of Agriculture’s Organic Agriculture Program, which aims to promote, propagate, further develop, and implement organic agriculture in the Philippines in order to create a competitive and sustainable organic industry that contributes to: better income and sustainable livelihood.
