USM shortlisted for 2022 Zairi International Award Excellence for Higher Education

The University of Southern Mindanao made history as it is shortlisted for the 2022 inaugural edition of Zairi International Award Excellence for Higher Education (Award of Excellence for Research Impact category) along with King Abdulaziz University, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and The University of South Africa (UNISA), South Africa.

USM is among the numerous Higher Education Institutions (HEIs) from 31 countries nominated for excellence in research and is the first and only Philippine HEI nominated for the award.

The Award is a formal international recognition of outstanding performance for Higher Education institutions around the world in specific areas pertinent to research, digital transformation, community engagement, etc. and to those who successfully addressed global educational challenges. It aims at highlighting inspiring success stories of higher education institutions and celebrate institutions that have developed and implemented creative responses to current and ongoing issues in the sector.

The award has been named after the late Professor Mohamed Zairi, a very well-respected expert in the field of quality and excellence who has during his lifetime published over 70 books and led numerous international and regional government level excellence awards. He was recognized globally for his contribution in the field and received several medals and recognitions.

The award criteria and process are endorsed by key leading organizations from across the globe. The award is managed by an International Executive Committee comprising of six international experts in the fields of higher education as well as quality and excellence. It is administered on an annual basis by the Center for Learning Innovations and Customized Knowledge Solutions (CLICKS).

Award recipient will be presented during the official opening ceremony of MENA Higher Education Leadership Forum on March 23, 2022 in Dubai, UAE.
