Dr. Jonald L. Pimentel, the President of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) warmly opened his office for the faculty researchers on Soil Health Program of the Agusan Del Sur State College of Agriculture and Technology (ASSCAT) on April 14, 2025, at USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.
ASSCAT researchers, composed of project leaders and project staff representing the 3 projects, visited USM to benchmark the recently completed project on ACIAR SlaM 2017/040: Land Management of Diverse Rubber-Based Cropping Systems in Southern Philippines. Additionally, the focus is to intensify the use of land using intercropping of some selected high value crops such as coffee and cacao.
Accompanied by Dr. Ardniel A. Baladjay and Rezin Cabantug of USM, the team also visited the rubber-based cropping system model at the USM Agricultural Research, Development and Extension Center (USMARDC), to be the basis for ASSCAT researchers in establishing the same model at Agusan del Sur.
