The University of Southern Mindanao has produced 17 new microbiologists in the latest Certification Examination for Registered Microbiologists administered by the Philippine Academy of Microbiology (PAM) on January 18-19, 2025 at SMX Convention Center, Aurora, Taguig City, Metro Manila.
Out of the 17 passers, 16 were first-time takers, while one was a retake passer, resulting in a 77.27% passing rate for USM, significantly higher than the national passing rate of 56%. The successful examinees underwent rigorous academic and practical training under USM’s microbiology program, which has consistently prepared graduates for careers in research, healthcare, pharmaceuticals, food safety and others.
The certification ensures that these professionals meet industry standards and are equipped with the necessary knowledge and skills to contribute to the field of microbiology.
USM continues to strengthen its science programs through curriculum enhancements, research initiatives, and collaborations with scientific organizations.
