In celebration of its 46th Founding Anniversary, the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) Hospital gathered 50 kids from a community in Kabacan for their “Adopt a Kid for a Day” Program on February 11, 2025, at the USM Hospital, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.
USM Hospital partnered with McDonalds-Kidapawan for a fun-filled event for children. McDonalds Mascots like Birdie, Grimace, and Hamburglar joined in the celebration that made the celebration fun and exciting. The children, together with their parents, received food packs, gifts, and prizes as a reward for participating in the games prepared by McDonalds crew.
Additionally, the energy soared when the mascots visited children confined to their hospital rooms.
Talking with UPRIO, Vanessa Awang, a parent of three kids in the activity, expressed her appreciation to the USM Hospital for the activity. “Masaya. Busog na busog kami, at first-time naming nag-Mcdo.” She spoke.
In another interview, Angeline Dinapay said that they are grateful for the experience. “Ang masasabi ko po sa USM ay very thankful po kami dahil sa dami-dami po’ng pwede ninyong i-invite dito, isa po kami sa napili ninyo para sa mga bata namin, at isa pa, thank you sa mga nag-sponsor sa programang ito.” She ended.
Dr. Annaleah B. Lasaga, the Medical Director of USM, narrated the story of hosting an activity for the kids. She underscored that last year, they only had a gift-giving activity for the kids confined in the hospital. Now as the USM Hospital advocates to draw smile to their clients, Dr. Lasaga organized the activity that includes the community.
“Let’s give joy to the kids and make them smile, para ma-transpire dito sa atin every day na mag-serve sa clients na naka-smile and mas pagbutihin pa natin ang serbisyo sa mamamayan.” She ended.
With its anniversary theme, “Giving back, growing stronger”, the USM Hospital offers Free FBS Testing, Consultation, Basic Laboratory, Diagnostic Examination, Operation Bukol, and Bloodletting activity.
