The University of Southern Mindanao Extension Services Office (USM-ESO) welcomed officials from the Agricultural Training Institute – SOCCSKSARGEN (ATI-SOCCSKSARGEN) on February 11, 2025, to discuss agricultural extension programs and collaborations.

Dr. Jessie V. Beldia, OIC-Center Director of the Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center XII (ATI-RTC XII), and Teofilo T. Jumawan, Jr., Planning Officer II, met with Dr. Glyn G. Magbanua, ESO Director, and Dr. Debbie Marie B. Verzosa, Vice President for Research, Development, and Extension (VPRDE).

The meeting focused on ATI’s 2025 plans and programs, particularly in strengthening agricultural extension services, capacity-building, and implementing innovative projects aligned with the needs of Region XII and the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (BARMM).

The discussion also covered the revitalization of USM as an Agricultural Learning Site and farm school to enhance agricultural training for farmers in nearby communities. Plans to develop USM into a leading agri-tourism destination in Kabacan were also presented.

The meeting concluded with ATI presenting its semestral and annual reports and latest publications to the ESO office.

The meeting highlighted the continued partnership between USM and ATI in advancing sustainable agricultural development and food security in the region.
