To ensure a smooth start to the University of Southern Mindanao’s (USM) 2025 projects, the Office of the Vice President for Research, Development & Extension (RDE) conducted an inception meeting on January 14, 2025, at the USM Graduate School to address project-related concerns and prepare project leaders for the year ahead.
The meeting served as both a workshop and a venue for discussion, focusing on essential topics such as the preparation of the Project Procurement Management Plan (PPMP), and Line Item Budget (LIB). These were presented by Budget Office Head Shereen Mae P. Villaruz and Accountant Irvin A. Salise from the Accounting Office.
Concerns related to the Human Resource Management and Development Office (HRMDO) were also addressed by its director Dr. Nerissa G. Dela Viña, particularly the requirements for processing salaries and wages and the guidelines for hiring COS and JO personnel. These sessions aimed to ensure that all project leaders are well-equipped to comply with institutional processes.
The meeting was attended by 39 project leaders from various units, including members of the University Research, Development, and Extension Committee (URDEC) team and research assistants.
This significant event marked the beginning of a collaborative and focused effort to drive USM’s research and extension projects throughout the year.
