The University of Southern Mindanao (USM) and the Local Government Unit (LGU) of Pigcawayan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the establishment of a USM extension campus in Pigcawayan, Cotabato at the USM Administration Building, Kabacan, Cotabato on December 20, 2024 with the officials from both parties.
The extension campus aims to provide accessible higher education to communities in Pigcawayan and nearby areas. It will offer health-related and technology-related programs to address local needs.
USM President Dr. Francisco Gil N. Garcia and Pigcawayan Mayor Juanito C. Agustin both expressed their commitment to the partnership, emphasizing the project’s potential to enhance education and community development. Academic operations are expected to start by the School Year 2025-2026.
