A groundbreaking ceremony was held on November 21, 2024, for the construction of a ₱14,806,340.29 multi-purpose building at the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), Kabacan, Cotabato.

The project, funded through the efforts of Congressman Mohamad “Tong” P. Paglas from Maguindanao del Sur and implemented by the Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) Region XII, will rise beside the Institute of Middle East and Asian Studies (IMEAS) building.

Present during the ceremony were USM President Francisco Gil N. Garcia, members of the University Infrastructure Project Monitoring and Evaluation Team, representatives from Department of Public Works and Highways Regional Office XII, and Better Work Construction.

The facility is intended to benefit USM students, particularly students from Institute Middle East and Asian Studies, by providing a space for academic, cultural, and religious activities. DPWH Region XII assured attendees of the project’s timely completion and adherence to quality standards.
