The University of Southern Mindanao’s Extension Services Office (USM-ESO) participated in the Lakbay Palay Wet Season 2024 at DA-PhilRice, Bual Norte, Midsayap, Cotabato, on September 5-6, 2024. The theme of this 2-day event was “Bida ang Sama-Sama Para sa Masaganang Bagong Pilipinas” and it was funded by the Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF).

Along with 15 other exhibitors, USM-ESO proudly showcased its products under the USM Foods trademark. These included Tableya, Turmeric-Based Tea, Sinamak, Robusta Coffee, Laurel Leaves, Camote Chips, Powdered Insulin Plant, Lanzones, Yacon, Insulin Wine, various vegetable crackers, and dehydrated fruits such as Pineapple and Mango. Most of these products were processed at the High Value Crops and Food Processing Center (HVCFPC). The USM-ESO booth also featured USM achievements and projects, along with Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) materials from its partner agencies.

The event was attended by esteemed guests, including Dr. Julius Jerome G. Ele, Director of the SOXAARRDEC; Dr. Sailila E. Abdula, director of the DA-PhilRice Midsayap; Ommah H. Abdulkadil, RCEF Coordinator; Rey M. Domingo, Agricultural Program Coordinating Officer (APCO) for North Cotabato Province; Omara M. Kempa, Manager of the BPI-National Seed Quality Control Services (BPI-NSQCS) for Region XII and BARMM; Judge Lily Lydia A. Laguindanom, Provincial Adviser for the Council of Cotabato; Alberto J. Pajarito, President of the Cotabato Agricultural Allied Services Cooperative (CAASCO); and Allan Conorado, Provincial Rice Coordinator.
