The University of Southern Mindanao-Kidapawan City Campus College of Education, Arts, and Sciences (CEAS) successfully held its first-ever mock board examination on June 15, 2024. This landmark event was initiated by CEAS Dean Dr. Justfer John Aguilar with the strong support of the CEAS faculty. The exam aimed to assess the readiness of Bachelor of Secondary Education and Bachelor of Technical Vocational Teacher Education students for the upcoming Licensure Examination for Teachers (LET). The initiative highlights the collegeโs commitment to ensuring high-quality education and comprehensive support for its students.
โThe primary goal of this mock board exam is to evaluate our studentsโ readiness for the LET,โ said Dr. Aguilar. โBy identifying their strengths and areas needing improvement, we can provide targeted interventions to enhance their chances of success.โ
The mock board exam consisted of comprehensive tests covering key areas of the LET, including general education, professional education, and specialization subjects. The structure and content of the exam mirrored the actual LET, providing students with a realistic testing experience.
Faculty members played a crucial role in the planning and execution of the mock board exam. They designed the test items, supervised the examination process, and will be involved in the assessment and analysis of the results. This collaborative effort highlights the strong sense of community and dedication within the CEAS.
โThe support from our department heads and faculty has been invaluable,โ Dr. Aguilar noted. โTheir expertise and commitment have been instrumental in making this initiative a success.โ
Once the results are out, the CEAS plans to implement tailored interventions for students based on their performance. These interventions may include review sessions, focused study groups, and one-on-one tutoring, all designed to address specific areas where students may need additional support.
The mock board exam represents a proactive approach by USM-KCC to preparing its students for professional success. By simulating the conditions of the LET and providing targeted interventions based on performance, the college aims to uphold its reputation for academic excellence and contribute to the development of competent, confident, and well-prepared educators.
