To address the prevalent issue of stress and anxiety among students, interns from the Bachelor of Science in Development Communication (BSDEVCOM) and Bachelor of Agricultural Technology (BAT) programs at the University of Southern Mindanao (USM) conducted a seminar-workshop focused on coping skills on April 25, 2024.

Under the guidance of the USM Extension Services Office (ESO) staff, Mr. Jaypee Monfort and Training Specialist Ms. Ritchel Torres, the interns, namely Ms. Hasmin M. Ayob, Rica T. Baloyo, Rea Mae R. Lubat, and Julpicar P. Mamaco, served as resource persons for the activity.

The seminar-workshop, titled “Coping Skills for Stress and Anxiety,” catered to 20 sophomore Bachelor of Science in Agriculture students. The seminar was held at the USM ESO Training room, where students engaged in activities aimed at equipping them with effective techniques for managing stress.

The seminar’s primary goal was to empower students with the tools necessary to navigate through periods of stress and anxiety, ultimately fostering a positive mindset conducive to personal growth and academic success.

In a particularly interactive segment of the workshop, students engaged in role-playing exercises, simulating real-life scenarios and exploring strategies to cope with anxiety-inducing situations. Each group had the opportunity to showcase their role-plays, followed by reflective discussions led by their peers.

Through these hands-on activities and discussions, participants gained valuable insights into recognizing and managing stressors in their lives, empowering them to approach challenges with resilience and confidence.
