March 14, 2024The Office of the Provincial Veterinarian, the Office of the Municipal Agriculturist – Kabacan, and the College of Veterinary Medicine-USM conducted a Mass Anti-Rabies Vaccination on March 13, 2024, at Brgy. Poblacion, Kabacan, Cotabato. The purpose of this activity is to eliminate or reduce the occurrence of rabies in the Municipality and to ensure that pet animals are protected against such disease. Fifteen teams, consisting of 2-3 members each, were created to cover all of the puroks in Poblacion Kabacan, Cotabato. A total of 574 dogs and 175 cats were served in the said activity, with 334 pet owners of dogs and cats participating.
Representatives from the Office of the Provincial Governor, Hon. Emmylou Taliño-Mendoza, headed by Dr. Gary Dondonayos, OPVET veterinarian and staff, the Brgy Poblacion Chairman, Hon. Herlo P. Guzman, Sr., the Office of the Municipal Agriculturists represented by Dr. Louise Faith Mosquera, Engr. James Dao-ay, Mr. Junrey Bade, and Mr. Errol Jake Estimo, and the College of Veterinary Medicine represented by Dr. AP Warren P. Adamat, the CVM Extension Coordinator, together with clinicians and OJT students of the CVM, were present. They encountered problems due to the absence of pet owners and their inability to restrain the pets.
