March 6, 2024True to its goal of creating a positive impact on its community, the University of Southern Mindanao Hospital organized a groundbreaking ceremony for the USM hemodialysis center at the Proposed Medical Complex, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato on February 16, 2024, withย Samantha Santos, the Congresswoman of the 3rd District of Cotabato.
President Francisco Gil N. Garcia articulated his appreciation for the support of the local and provincial governments and the congresswoman for fulfilling the dreams of USM beneficial to its community.
In her message, Congresswoman Santos underscored that the project has always been her dream to have a dialysis center, specifically in the 3rd District of Cotabato. โThis project is so much better than the original planโฆ a blessing that would benefit not only the students of USM but of people in the whole Cotabato province.โ She spoke.
โAs the leader of the 3rd District of Cotabato, I am always committed to serve and to serbe with you to provide everything needed for this hospital moving forward.โ She ended.
In her speech, Fatima A. Emban, MD, the OIC Assistant Regional Director of the Department of Health Region XII, underscored to really thank Congresswoman Samantha since it suddenly came into the plan that means, somewhere along the way someone proposed and someone approved so it entered DOH budget.
โI am happy to know na may magandang hospital sa USM in the futureโฆ lahat naman ng plano ay plano lang, kung wala tayong support coming from the congress and the senate, hindi mangyayari yun. Kaya pasalamat tayo na very supportive ang ating mga congress representatives para sa provision of quality health to our constituents. โ She concluded.
Present in the program were Board Members Ivy Dalumpines-Balitoc, Jonathan Tabara, JOmar Cerebo, Karen Michie de Guzman of Cotabato Province, members of the USM Board of Regents, administrative council, faculty members and staff, and stakeholders of USM.
The USM Hemodialysis Center will be a two-story with a 13-unit capacity building that will serve as a gateway in addressing the growing demand for dialysis in Cotabato.
