USM RDE presents Kapihan Series 2024

To promote a culture of Research, Development and Extension (RDE) in University of Southern Mindanao, the Kapihan Series of 2024 will be launched with capacity building activities this March and April, 2024.

The first activities are as follows:

𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙥𝙤𝙨𝙖𝙡 𝙬𝙧𝙞𝙩𝙚𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙥𝙨 𝙛𝙤𝙧 𝘿𝙊𝙎𝙏 𝙁𝙪𝙣𝙙𝙞𝙣𝙜
The deadline for capsule proposals for DOST funding is on March 15, 2024. The writeshops on March 8 and 15 are intended to assist faculty and researchers to submit capsule proposals for possible funding from DOST or other agencies. All faculty and full-time researchers are invited to join the writeshops (come anytime during the day) at the ESO Conference Room. Free-flowing coffee will be served. 𝙇𝙞𝙣𝙠𝙨 𝙩𝙤 𝙩𝙚𝙢𝙥𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙚𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙩𝙝𝙚𝙧 𝙙𝙚𝙩𝙖𝙞𝙡𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙚 𝙨𝙝𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙖𝙩 𝙩𝙝𝙚 𝙚𝙣𝙙 𝙤𝙛 𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙨 𝙖𝙧𝙩𝙞𝙘𝙡𝙚.

Dr. Julius Jerome G. Ele and Engr. Tito Jun T. Tidula recently completed the Intellectual Property Master Class Modules. In this workshop, they will re-echo their learnings. Specifically, they will give a workshop on Prior Arts Search, demonstrations, and hands-on activities. For researchers with mechanical type of technology, there will also be a session on preparation of drawings. The registration link will be announced soon.

𝐀𝐩𝐫𝐢𝐥 𝟓, 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟒
𝙀𝙩𝙝𝙞𝙘𝙖𝙡 𝘾𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙞𝙙𝙚𝙧𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨 𝙖𝙣𝙙 𝙋𝙧𝙤𝙘𝙚𝙨𝙨𝙚𝙨 𝙞𝙣 𝙎𝙩𝙪𝙙𝙚𝙣𝙩 𝙏𝙝𝙚𝙨𝙚𝙨
Student thesis advisers may have many questions regarding ethical clearance for their advisees’ studies. They should also know about dos and don’ts in writing their methodologies to ensure that their respondents are protected. The workshop will provide this information and also assist advisers in how to check their students’ theses for possible ethical issues and to fill out ethics forms.

𝐃𝐎𝐒𝐓 𝐎𝐩𝐩𝐨𝐫𝐭𝐮𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐞𝐬 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐅𝐮𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠
For this year, DOST has introduced a new system for soliciting proposals. Interested researchers are invited to submit a concept proposal (brief description of the project, maximum 1500 words) via email (rather than through the DPMIS system).

Email submissions are accepted from March 1-15, 2024.

Upon receipt, DOST will review proposals. Researchers whose proposals pass through the initial evaluation will then be asked to submit the full-blown proposal through the DPMIS.
