After four months of intensive training on the standards of ISO 9001:2008 and preparation of the necessary documents and facilities, the University of Southern Mindanao finally received the official confirmation letter from TUV Rheinland Philippines, Inc. on its recommendation for certification for Design, Development, and Provision of Tertiary Education for the three Core Processes (College of Agriculture, College of Arts and Sciences, and College of Veterinary Medicine) and pertinent support units in the Administration.
The University was subjected to the First Audit on October 27-28 and was declared ready for Second Audit on November 28-29, 2017.
The Second Audit yielded three minor non-conformities on the following clauses of the ISO standard: 8.2.2 ( ), 8.2.3 ( ), and 7.5.1 ( ). After the corrective actions were accepted by the Audit team, the University was recommended for certification. The certificate was issued after the technical review and approval by the System Certification Department of TUV Rheinland Philippines.
Meanwhile, the ISO Core Team has laid out the schedule to facilitate preparation for the First Surveillance scheduled in October 2017. Regular and special Internal Audits, management reviews, periodic evaluation of procedures and forms, 7s campaign, and customer satisfaction surveys are among the highlights of the preparations for the surveillance.
