|BLIS Program Head receives Award of Distinction from AACCUP|

The Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP) conducted the 29th AACCUP Annual National Conference on February 17-19, 2016 at Century Park Hotel, Malate, Manila with the theme, “Internalizing Accreditation in Higher Education, Internationalizing the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines (AACCUP), Inc”.
One of the highlights of the 29th Annual Conference was the giving of awards to the members of the AACCUP who manifested exceptional talent as evidenced by the effective instructional practice that provided models of excellence in their respective profession to help students succeed.
One of the awardees was Dr. Anita C. Sornito of the University of Southern Mindanao (USM), for her expert services as Program Specialist in the development of the Outcomes-Based Quality Assurance Program Instrument entitled: Bachelor of Science in Library and Information Science with Copyright Certificate and Registration Number 02015-2249.
The Award of Distinction also recognized her as having a profound impact on the field, continuing effort and unprecedented advocacy and dedication and promotion to the ideals, goals and objectives of AACCUP. As Executive Vice President for PLAI in Mindanao, Dr. Sornito also served as AACCUP senior accreditor, program head and faculty of Bachelor of Library and Information Science (USM) and director of the University Learning Resource Center, USM, Kabacan, Cotabato.
Among the main features of the Annual Conference were the presentation of progress report on the implementation of the CHED–sponsored Outcomesbased Quality Assurance, program launching of the Internalization of Accreditation and Internationalization of AACCUP, reports of comparative practices to deepen the knowledge and sharpen the practice of outcomesbased evaluation, presentation of current practices and trends in developing internal quality assurance systems, and regional views in the internationalization of education with particular emphasis on cross-border education and the internationalization of quality assurance agencies.
