  • University of Southern Mindanao, formerly Mindanao Institute of Technology (MIT).
  • MIT- the brainchild of a great and respected Maguindanaon educator, Hadja Bai Fatima Matabay Plang.
  • Created by virtue of Republic Act No. 763 on June 20, 1952. 
  • Republic Act No. 998 on June 10, 1954, paved the way for the opening of a college state institution of higher learning which was formally opened on October 1, 1954.
  • Presidential Decree No. 1312, converted Mindanao Institute of Technology to University of Southern Mindanao.
